Education is one of the core functional areas of Global Foundation’s intervention. Education for Peace and ICT Education are two integral parts of our educational objectives. Our Projects –
Knowledge on Wheels (KNOW)
Global Foundation has conceptualized and created a Mobile Computer Lab. It is a state of the art bus equipped with the Generator, Air Conditioners and Laptop Computers all networked and loaded with the relevant software for teaching computers in rural areas. This vehicle covers schools in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra. It halts at a school for 20 days and provides computer education to children in batches.
Social Impact: Over 2,00,000 students across 300 schools have been benefited through Project KNOW.
Gyan IT – Static Computer Lab
To bridge the digital divide in rural India, Global Foundation sets up Computer Labs in rural schools. Each lab has 8 to 10 computers.
Global Foundation imparts computer training for the teachers and organizes annual Computer Proficiency Competition amongst rural students. The project is being conducted in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
Social Impact: 151 Computer Labs have been set up and over 200,000 students from rural areas have benefitted.
Gyanjyot
Project Gyanjyot provides Financial Assistance for self-education and in the education of children of parents with an annual income under Rs 3.6 Lakhs per annum. A financial assistance is provided for education from Kindergarten upto Post Graduation and Vocational Courses.
Social Impact: Gyanjyot Scholarships benefit over 1300 families every year.
Post Graduate Diploma in Education for Peace
Global Foundation in association with K. J. Somaiya Comprehensive College of Education, Training and Research offers 1 year Post Graduate Diploma in Education for Peace.
Social Impact: Currently in its first batch, there are 20 students from diverse professional backgrounds.
Education for Peace
Initiated in 2009, Education for Peace by Global Foundation is envisioned by UNESCO’s framework of Education for Peace and designed considering the values recommended by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) India. Education for Peace aims to promote the culture of peace, humaneness, and tolerance in multicultural space like schools.
Social Impact: Since the initiation, Global Foundation has engaged with over 56 schools, trained 125 teachers and enrolled over 1500 students in Peace Clubs.
